Electroless Nickel Plating

Ronatec was the first provider of Electroless Nickel Plating Processes in California! We offer a complete line of proprietary electroless nickel plating systems to meet all functional plating requirements.

Ronatec was the first provider of Electroless Nickel Plating Processes in California! We offer a complete line of proprietary electroless nickel plating systems to meet all functional plating requirements. Deposits from these systems range from 1 to 12% phosphorus by weight. Ronatec Electroless Nickel coatings provide extraordinary corrosion protection, exceptional wear resistance and excellent solderability at minimum plate thickness. Ronatec electroless nickel products are manufactured with state-of-the-art equipment and subjected to strict quality control. From A to Z, our electroless nickel processes have demonstrated their exceptional capabilities to meet challenging application demands.

Principles Of Electroless Nickel

Auto-catalytic nickel plating is commonly referred to as Electroless Nickel Plating. In contrast, with electroplating, electroless nickel (EN) plating does not require electrical current. The deposition occurs in an aqueous solution containing metal ions, a reducing agent, chelates, complexing agents and stabilizers. Chemical reactions on the surface of the part being plated cause deposition of a nickel alloy.

Electroless nickel plating has several advantages versus electroplating. Free from flux-density and power supply issues, it provides an even deposit regardless of workpiece geometry, and with the proper pre-plate catalyst, can deposit on non-conductive surfaces.

Advantages of Electroless Nickel Plating Include:

  • Corrosion protection for most metals and metal alloys
  • Hardness and wear resistance comparable to hard chrome
  • Uniform coating thickness on all surfaces of complex geometries
  • Lead free and cadmium free composition
Capabilities of Electroless Nickel Plating include:

  • Controlled Electroless Nickel Plating Thickness Tolerance
  • Production Volumes
  • Rack and Barrel Plating
  • Low and High Phosphorous Deposits
